WINERY INFORMATION Vineyard Cape Barren wines are produced from vineyards particularly hand selected for their exceptional quality and consistency Our reds are produced from the world renowned McLaren Vale region from vines older than 45 years nbsp These seriously old vines produce wines of supeme concentration and complexity not seen in younger vines It is this history on which our future lies nbsp With its picturesque and undulating terrain and maritime climate McLaren Vale is one of the finest regions in the world for grape-growing mdash especially forShiraz and Grenache nbsp Winemaking Fermentation was carried out in upright 10 tonne static fermenters at around 24-26 deg C and remained on skins for about 10 days The wine was pumped over skins twice per day and pressed at around 2 degrees Baume One-third was added to new French oak hogsheads to complete fermentation and the balance was added to older oak when dry TASTING NOTES the colour is vivid deep and dark purple-crimson Complex array of ripe black fruits spiced poached plum and chocolate intertwined with very high quality French oak nuances A distinguished wine showing full body and rich texture The highlights are layered forest red fruits and dark chocolate textured with swirls of five-spice characters The same excellent quality French oak flavours blend with the fine grained tannins and contribute to ensure a persistent and luscious finish The cellaring up to10 years or more
