Next door to La Rioja, in the cool north of Spain lies the region of Navarra. Where tempranillo shines in Rioja, garnacha (or grenache) is the star of Navarra. Young vines go into rosé and once the vines have matured, they make deep, layered, velvety reds. The Cabrito Oscuro comes for a collectio of old sites, high on mountains, where a long season allows the grapes to gain flavour and complexity, while retaining freshness. Ripe plums and blackberries beam from the glass, followed by aniseed spice and a touch of toasty oak. This is full-bodied, full-flavour and very easy to like.
