The Adelaide Hills seems to hang its hat on shiraz, chardonnay and pinot noir, and increasingly, all the weird and wonderful things. But if there’s one unsung hero from the Hills, its pinot grigio. Fresh, crunchier thangranny smiths, textural but not overworked, it’s a dry, friendly style that won’t make you lift a finger or strain your brain to enjoy it. Australia’s wannabe Italians (or actual Italians) do their best work with this variety here and in the King Valley - the competition is fierce. All you need for this is a post-work thirst and an empty glass. The bottom of your fridge should be full of this goodness. Don’t reach for a VB, grab a PG.
