WINERY INFORMATION Established in 1996 Astrolabe offers an outstanding range of fruit-driven and intensely flavoured wines showcasing the terroir characteristics of the Marlborough region The wine brand was started by skilled winemaker Simon Waghorn with the help and support of his wife Jane Frrest They named the brand after the ship L rsquo Astrolabe that explored and charted the Marlborough Coast in 1827 nbsp TASTING NOTES The premium grapes used to produce Wrekin Vineyard Late Harvest Chenin Blanc were handpicked and gently pressed followed by fermentation in stainless steel This resulted in the creation of a bright gold hued wine Scintillating aromas of apricot and dried tropical fruit fuse with subtle citrus blossom and candied peel hints to offer a perfumed nose The luscious palate is rife with lovely flavours of stone fruit and lemon curd supported by soft acidity These flavours and fragrances combine to end the wine in a captivating finale Made for consumption upon release this beautiful Chenin Blanc has the potential to be cellared for 5 years from vintage It tastes excellent served chilled with citrus cakes desserts or a cheeseboard nbsp
