Just one of a number of single vineyard wines from the Giant Steps stable and it's hard to play favourites as each has it's own unique style. However, the charry, funky and fleshy bright red fruit characters of the Applejack vineyard are attractive, with loads of generosity adding appeal to those wh take their pinot seriously. GIANTS IN THEIR FIELD, for Justin Grounds of Giant Steps, it was the combination of the art and science in winemaking that first appealed to him. Now as Senior Winemaker, he favours a process as close to natural as possible. They even have a purpose-built gravity flow winery, to minimise mechanical intervention. Justin is not afraid to experiment and develop, and aims for continual evolution in style. He loves to see the progression from fruit on a vine, to wine in a bottle, and loves to share his wine and process with visitors to the winery.
