Alexandra Wine Company Davishon Vineyard Pinot Noir

The Davishon Vineyard sits on the site where the first vines were planted in Central Otago back in the 1860s. It’s located on a terrace above the Clutha River outside Alexandra and offers gravelly soils that promote free draining. The grapes for this pinot spent 10 months in 25% newFrench oak, developing just enough structure and tannin to support the ample fruit. Crack open this cracker of an Otago wine and you’ll find violet, raspberry, spice, leather and herbal notes on the nose. The palate is all cherries, plums and vanilla. Like most pinot from the region, it sits closer to medium in body with silky tannins and a touch of minerality. You won’t find a better deal on single vineyard Otago juice with this much complexity and drive.
