WINERY INFORMATION Alex Russell Wines is based in Riverland and produces premium wines using boutique varieties of grapes that are usually underrated Directed by viticulturist and winemaker Alex Russel the company has been highly awarded for its production of Durif Graciano Saperavi Vermentin Lagrein and Montepulciano wine varieties 6 wines from the brand rsquo s Alejandro range were awarded at the 2015 Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show TASTING NOTES The richly coloured and flavoured Saperavi grapes for this award winning wine were obtained from Murray Darling The drink flaunts a deep purple to black colour The fragrant nose exhibits captivating aromas of blueberry and fennel The lush palate offers rich flavours of ripe beetroots mulberries and blueberries coupled with mint leaf nuances These characters are balanced by toasty and spicy French oak as well as prominent tannins The satisfying finish is marked by sweet fruit and lingering oak Age this rich and intense red wine for up to ten years for a rewarding experience Enjoy it with hard cheeses shepherd s pie or beef dishes
