What a freakin’ cool wine! One of Australia’s most renowned minimal interventionists as teamed up with a mate in New Zealand to produce this stunner of an Otago pinot. It’s on the gentle side, but still carries all the wildness, herbaceousness, meatiness and smokiness of classic peen from thisworld-renowned region. Cherry is the fruit of record and the ageing done in amphorae has imparted chalky tannins on the wine. There’s a pinch of sulphur in there, so we can’t call it a natural wine. But very little else was done, allowing the fruit to shine, and shine it does.
