Originating in France and discovered to be a relation of Shiraz Durif also known as Petite Sirah is a lesser known red variety but typically what is lacks in popularity it makes up for in character with rich colour and robustness This wine is no exception and is full-bodied brooding with ripecharacters of blueberries and dark cherries with a firm textural backbone nbsp Aging in new and old oak has created additional complexity with dark chocolate and mocha notes The robustness of Durif makes it best served with food such as high grade cuts of beef stews and full-flavoured mature cheeses nbsp If you prefer your red wines with some added bottle complexity then it is a variety that will reward those willing to put it away in their Cellar
