Before tucking into a bowl of lunchtime udon or dinner time salmon sashimi, the Japanese always say “itadakimasu”. Itââ‡Â¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s tatami mat manners, just like waiting for everyone to be ready before eating. “Itadakimasu” loosely translates to “I humbly receive”, which is soooo much nicer than “rub-a-dub-dub thanks for the grub”. So tonight I’m going to order me some UberEats tuna nigiri, crack open a bottle of this super smooth riesling and just humbly receive all of the goodness into my belly.
