WINERY INFORMATION Situated in the picturesque valley of Central Otago NZ Mataora Estate produces premium cold climate Pinot Noir wines The beautiful snow surrounds the estate s vineyards capped mountains and winding rivers which makes the region suitable for growing some of the finest qualityPinot noir grapes The wine brand is named after the word mataora meaning being alive or living in the traditional Maori language TASTING NOTES The fruit used to craft Mataora Pinot Noir was harvested crushed and then fermented followed by cold soaking for three days The Pinot Nair is aged in French oak for 12 months and displays a cherry red hue A swirl of the glass presents mesmerising perfumes of red cherries and star anise accompanied by subtle char tones The lush palate is rife with cherry ripe red berry milk chocolate and nutmeg flavours Long supple tannins integrate with the taste to end in a soft and savoury finish This delightful red wine has a cellaring potential of eight years from vintage It is a great food accompaniment to roast duck lamb and soft cheese platters nbsp nbsp
