WINERY INFORMATION Laurel Bank was established in 1986 by Kerry Carland in the Granton region The vineyard is found on north facing slopes with a scenic view of the Derwent River It enjoys a cool maritime climate that is ideal for the grape varieties nbsp cultivated The soil profile is a uniquecombination of black clay on the upper half and sandy loam on the lower half The winemaking team at Laurel Bank believes that they have met the benchmark for the production of premium fruit low yield bold flavours and well defined varietal characteristics thus enabling them to craft high quality wines TASTING NOTES This wine is pale straw in colour highlighted with flecks of green in the glass This dry wine gives off initial aromas of youthful green apple lime lemon zest melon and citrus blossom coupled with repressed hints of wood spice and freshly cut grass The front palate experiences a cleansing moment brought on by an acidity inspired by zesty fruits The mid palate is gritty with crisp earthiness Its balanced flavour profile is lively and fresh providing a contrast to the wine rsquo s racy acidity It has a lingering tart finish This wine is usually consumed young as it does not benefit from aging A smooth and intense wine that is best served chilled it tastes wonderful paired with grilled marinated prawns smoked salmon with dills risotto of lobster tomato salads with fennel and roasted sea bass
