The Northern Rhône is arguably where syrah reaches its fullest potential. The wines are both powerful and perfumed, commanding and charming, rich and silky. This granite-grown drop shows that classic sweet/savoury character beautifully. Deliciously ripe, darkfruit is pitted against black olive, cocoa, balsamic, and lashings of black pepper. The tannins are both fine and spicy, making each mouthful a lively experience. Matured in the traditional way, in the large-format, old oak foudre, there’s basically no decoration to speak of. It’s naturally powerful and unadorned, allowing excellent fruit and ideal climate do the talking. Cellar this beast for a long time.
