Malbec has been in Cahors since Roman times. And the success of Malbec in Argentina piqued a new generation of local winemakers in Cahors into action. Cuvée 757 is from a cellar that’s won many awards for its Malbec, and Elodie Marsoni is winemaker. She had the idea of blending Malbec with a parcel of gorgeous, ripe Alicante from the Cévennes. The former provides firm, textured, ripe black fruit, while the latter is juicier and more fruit forward. A blend of regions, Cuvée 757 must be labelled Vin de France, and is even greater value for that.
